Madidi National Park and Natural Area Integrated Management – Peace

The Madidi National Park and Natural Area Integrated Management, includes the provinces of Abel Iturralde, Franz Tamayo and Larecaja from the Department of La Paz, including the municipalities of San Buenaventura, Ixiamas, Apollo, Pelechuco and Guanay. The Protected Area has an area of 1.895.750 hectares of which 1.271.500 correspond to the National Park and 624.250 hectares to the Integrated Management Natural Area. Its altitudinal range varies from 6.000 m.s.n.m. in the Apolobamba Mountain Range, until the 180 meters in the pampas of the Heath. It has an extraordinary heterogeneity in vegetation and soil ecosystems.. According to research, the park houses 1.417 vertebrate species present and 619 probable, reaching an estimated diversity in vertebrates of 1.989 species; it is also registered 1.865 higher plant species.

In the Park they live around 20 communities. The indigenous groups are the Tacana, Esse Come on, Lecos and Tsimanes. Entrance to the Park has an affordable cost for foreign and national visitors..
