Socavón Mining Museum – Oruro

The Miner's Museum, It is a new space that is located in the basement of Cerro Pie de Gallo., exactly in the Sanctuary of Mommy Candila, the Virgin of Socavón, where you can learn how the work was carried out inside a silver mine.

The mine entrance is a long staircase where you can access this wonderful museum, which is divided into five interesting sectors, among the most interesting are exhibited, Mina's Uncle (a statue with the figure of a devilish face), representation of Nina Nina, who also has a romantic legend by the way.

In the first sector, You can see a hanging wheelbarrow that was used to transport minerals during colonial times., There are also small samples of the mineral that exists in the department in addition to other mining implements that were used in ancient times..

In the second sector, we find the “callapeo”, typical safety timbering in mining exploitation, as well as drilling machines of various types used during the 19th century, collection of plans of the Siglo XX Mine, and clothing implements of a miner.

In the third sector, this is the branch gallery of the museum, where you can see a map of mining concessions of the year 1900, printing machinery from the early 20th century, in addition to other artifacts that were used at the time.

In the fourth sector, we highlight the Tin Baron's clock, Hochschild, like a true relic and a mailbox with a load of ore with its respective metal extraction cart on rails.
