El Choro Pre-Hispanic Trail – Peace

The Apacheta Pre-Hispanic Trail – Chucura, better known as the Choro, It starts from the Summit of the Cordillera Real which is located 25 kilometers from the City of La Paz; continuing to the town of Chairo. It has an approximate length of 65 kilometers; This road was part of the communication road complex of the Tihuanaco Empire, perfected by the Incas and later used in colonial and republican times. It was one of the main communication routes that linked the central highlands and the headwaters of the valleys with the Yungas, allowing the integration of all these Yungas regions.; It was also the means to control and manage the territory; allowed the exchange of products between the towns settled in its vicinity during the year. During the tour it is possible to find pre-Hispanic vestiges such as, suspension bridges, stone railings, stands, ceremonial centers, stairs and resting places better known as “Tambos”, all these buildings surrounded by lush vegetation that changes, every time he goes deeper into the mountains.
