Chacaltaya – Peace

Chacaltaya is a mountain located in the La Paz department of Bolivia with an approximate height of 5200 masl, located in the Andes Mountains. You are 30 kilometers from the city of La Paz and from where you can see a wonderful view of the Huayna Potosí.

➡TREKKING POLES (OPTIONAL)

➡ A CHANGE OF CLOTHES “TO CHANGE IN CASE IT RAINS”

You can enjoy the sunset in the mountains at more than 5000 masl and being able to walk under the stars and reach the summit.

From the top of the snow-capped mountain you can see:

To get to that place it is recommended to hire a tourism agency, however private cars arrive without problem as long as they know the route..

In recent years, snow has been lost drastically due to global warming.. Toward 2010, there was no more 20 meters of length of the glacier, and disappeared completely during that year, when the remaining snow was completely sublimated. It is the first extinct tropical glacier in South America.
