It is considered that at some point in the history of the people of the region this hill housed an Andean “huaca”.. Currently, one of the most important sanctuaries of the Catholic religion is located in this place.. It has an architectural structure from the 18th century, Inside lies the Virgin of the Litany, the smallest Virgin in the world., since its size does not exceed the thumb of the hand (19.5 millimeters). In recent years this site has attracted the attention of locals and strangers due to the miraculous power attributed to the Virgin of Litanías.. The pilgrimages of devotees have been gaining strength in recent decades. The custom of pilgrims is to ascend to the sanctuary making supplications with bare feet or on their knees.. The Litanías hill where the miraculous Virgin is located has an approximate height of 4.100 m.s.n.m., It is considered a natural viewpoint from where you can see the cities of Viacha and El Alto, in addition to the imposing snow-capped mountains such as Illimani, Mururata, Huayna Potosi, Chacaltaya e Illampu. You can access the site by vehicle or walking along its narrow paths.. The place has a rocky terrain with vegetation in a wild area.
