Abel Iturralde Province – Peace

Its symbols are Madidi and San Buenaventura, ecological centers classified as world reserves. It was created by Supreme Decree of the 27 December 1938.

It has a territorial extension of 42.815 km2 and an approximate population of 15.437 inhabitants (INE 2008). It limits to the east with the department of Beni, to the west with Peru, to the North with the department of Pando and to the South with the Franz Tamayo province.

The province has its own history around its name: It was first called Beni, then Caupolican and Heath to finally assume the name Abel lturralde, in tribute to the illustrious politician from La Paz. Its capital is Ixiamas.
