The Pyramid of Puma Punku or Gate of the Puma, It is one of the most important structures of the Tiwanaku Monumental Archaeological Complex due to the notable proportions of its lithic pieces., its high precision and the fine cut of the stone blocks. It is located at 1.000 meters south of the Town of Tiahuanaco, It covers about two hectares and forms a perfect diagonal of 45° NE-SW with the Akapana Pyramid. Puma Punku is a temple with a stepped pyramid-shaped structure built on three superimposed square platforms.. Its walls are made of carved and polished ashlars in red sandstone and gray andesite.. In its upper and central part there is a small Semi-subterranean Temple with drainage channels, which preserves among its remains the shape of a cyclopean structure made up of four rooms carved in andesite, joined with bronze and arsenical copper staples that are related to the Gate of the Sun and the Gate of the Moon.
