Taraco, Cradle of the Morenada – Peace

The town of Taraco is considered the cradle of the “Morenada”, since according to the stories and some documents preserved by the residents, This famous national folklore dance had its origin in this region. Its lilting movements, clothing and music are part of the experience and history of the Aymara peoples.

The “Morenada” is a dance that expresses the deepest cultural manifestations of the Andean people., synthesizes their customs, traditions, social organization, The designs of the multicolored clothing and figures were combined with the visions of the colonizers.

The residents of Taraco feel proud and identified with the “Morenada”. The identification with this dance is such that composers strive to create new lyrics and melodies every year..
