Iwawi Archaeological Site – Peace
The Iwawi archaeological site is located near the Higuagui area, distant to 6 kilometers from Taraco; It has an approximate extension of 5 hectares. Like other communities in the municipality, it is very rich in archaeological resources.. They were identified in the studies 4 areas of archaeological interest: "Kolata Quenacache", “Come to Puku”, “Awichu” and “Qala Tax”.
The site of “Kolata Quenacache”, It is the depository of the famous “Tired Stones”, They are characterized by being made up of enormous blocks of andesite stone that are scattered throughout the terrain.. It is believed that they were not transported to their final destination and were abandoned on the road.. At the “Ojje Puku” sites, “Awichu” and “Qala Tax”, Several samples of ceramics and tools were left on the surface. Currently these samples have been deposited in the Regional Museum of Taraco.
