San Sebastian Hill – Cochabamba

The story goes that in 1812, the Spanish royalist forces under the command of General Goyeneche, They returned to Cochabamba upon receiving news of the new rebellion that was occurring there and confronted the patriots led by Esteban Arce in Pocona.. The patriot Arce was defeated and the royalists continued towards Cochabamba, where the city with few resources refused to surrender, especially the women who, under the command of the blind elderly Manuela Gandarillas,, organized under the motto “Our home is sacred!” and armed with sticks and blankets they barricaded themselves on the hill of San Sebastián, in the place known as “The Crown”.
