Martin Cardenas Botanical Garden – Cochabamba

This large botanical garden of approximately two hectares in size, It is named after the famous Doctor Martín Cárdenas, cochabambino, who dedicated a large part of his life to the study of botany on the flora of Bolivia, traveling throughout the national territory. The garden has the purpose of contributing to the conservation of the plant resources of the region, conducting scientific research and teaching through its facilities in areas of botany and the environment.

The garden has various sections such as the Cactus area, Bromeliads, Amaryllis, Arboretum with native and exotic species. There are also the Medicinal Plants and Nursery sections.. There is also the “Martín Cárdenas” National Forest Herbarium., created in 1976 and which has approximately 40,000 species from all over Bolivia in the facilities of the Universidad Mayor de San Simón, in addition to a library specialized in botany topics.

The garden paths allow you to easily discover the different species shown, in addition to having recreation areas to enjoy nature and a relaxing walk.
