The fig tree – Santa Cruz
In the small village (30 housing) of the fig tree, to 2.160 meters high, the school which was arrested has been preserved, interrogated and killed Ernesto Guevara and some of his men. There has been built a well-known monument to Che Guevara, consisting of a large bust on a stone and a cross, beside the school that died. The bust was placed in 1978 and the military that ruled Bolivia during successive dictatorships sought to destroy him repeatedly, after which came to be reconstructed by anonymous hands over and over again.
From La Higuera is possible to make a short walk to the Gorge of Churo, where was there combat in which Che Guevara was wounded and captured.
