Corín Niño Community Fabrics – Peace

The Niño Corín community is located approximately 8 kilometers west of the town of Charazani. In this town center beautiful fabrics are made consisting of chuspas, handles, ponchos, any, chalinas, blankets and aguayos.

Their designs contain figures, drawings and symbols, that express the worldview of indigenous peoples, their lifestyles, values ​​and form of community organization. They use bright and consistent colors. What is typical of the conjunction between design, colors and materials is that the representation in the finishes of each community, has its own characteristics that define its local identity.

The raw material used is llama and sheep wool.. The techniques applied in this work are transmitted from generation to generation, basically by oral tradition. The fiber is then dyed with natural dyes obtained from plants and minerals..

The manufacture is made for own use and some of these outfits are sold at fairs and stores in the Municipality., sold in craft centers in the City of La Paz.
