Mound Plaza – Peace

It is located in the Sopocachi neighborhood, in La Paz.

Approximate altitude: 3 635 meters above sea level.

The name “Mound” refers to the hill or natural elevation on which it is located., which in the Aymara culture can be considered an “apu” (sacred mountain).
History and highlights

The park was designed by architect Mario del Carpio in 1940.

At its entrance there is a carved stone portal that dates back to 1776, originally belonging to the seminary of San Jerónimo.

Inside the park is the Neptune fountain made of Carrara marble., made in 1928, which represents part of the ornamental style of previous times.

It has a reputation as a “romantic viewpoint”: It is a common place for couples, to see sunsets and to walk calmly.
