The museum is dedicated to showing the customs, traditions and historical milestones of the city of La Paz.

Main rooms (o themes)

According to various sources, These are some of the rooms it has:

  • Temporary room — for traveling exhibitions

  • Mask room — displays traditional masks and costumes from folk dances such as the Kusillo, he kicks, the cucumber

  • Room of the La Paz chola — clothing, accessories, jewelry of La Paz women in different periods

  • Diorama Room — miniature historical scenes and models that recreate local events and customs

  • Ekeko Room — museum work in which different representations of Ekeko are exhibited, a very famous traditional piece in Bolivia

  • La Paz festivities room — the most representative festivals of La Paz are shown: Alasitas, Carnaval, Great Power, All Saints, etc.

  • Metal float of former president Ismael Montes (ca.. 1900)

  • Miniature replica of the founding of La Paz, made of ceramic

  • Characters historicized in clay corresponding to the 16th to 20th centuries

  • Historical events represented: the hanging of Pedro Domingo Murillo (1809), the martyrdom of Túpac Katari, etc.

  • old photographs, models of the old La Paz tram, allusions to pre-Columbian dairy farms

  • Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday: 09:30 – 12:30 y 14:30 – 19:00. Saturdays and Sundays: 09:00 – 13:00.
