Population of Jesús de Machaca – Peace

According to historical references, it is known that this territory was dominated by the Incas and a settlement was established in this place.. During the time of Viceroy Toledo, The original population was distributed in several divisions, originating other highly representative towns such as San Andrés de Machaca (Big Crush) and Caquiaviri among others. The first chief of the region was Fernando Axat Camaqui, followed by his son Fernando Cayo Guarachi and then Pedro Fernández Guarachi until Gabriel Fernández Guarachi, He left the dowry in his will for the construction of the church of Jesús de Machaca.

This indigenous municipality, long before the Colony, has gained great political importance for being the headquarters where municipal management is carried out through the original Cabildo..
